To the Editor:
Perhaps in addition to offering ''massages, dogs to cuddle in exam seasons, biofeedback workshops and therapists'' (front page, April 6), colleges might consider using life coaches to give students another alternative. Life coaching differs from therapy in that it moves the client forward through goal-setting and action rather than delving into the past.
As a life coach, I find that my clients tend to be people who stayed in that pressure-filled college mind-set during their professional lives and are now looking for balance and purpose. They're finishing creative projects, making inner peace a priority, becoming more physically fit, volunteering and making more time for play.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if this mind-set could be learned at the college level?
